The Katharine Hepburn Theater

(Jonatha Brooke)
There is always something happening along the Connecticut shoreline and especially at our very own “Kate Theater” in Old Saybrook. The Katharine Hepburn Theater plays host to three incredible shows this August:
Thursday, August 5th – 8pm
Jonatha Brooke

“From The Story in the 90′s through her Woodie Guthrie album, THE WORKS, to the theme song for FOX’s DOLLHOUSE, to the songs she’s written for Disney, two things remain clear. One, Jonatha Brooke is a talented musician with a lovely voice who writes powerful, emotional, intelligent songs. Two, she is difficult to pigeon hole. Folk? Alt-pop? Call it what you will. We’ll call it a must-see.” – THE KATE

Saturday, August 7th – 8pm
Aztec Two-Step
“They’re back. Last seen at The Kate playing the songs of Simon & Garfunkel, Aztec Two-Step returns, this time as themselves playing their songs, and despite the fact that their harmonies were compared to S&G all these years, isn’t that what your really want? A heaping portion of unadulterated Two-Step? We think so. Since 1972, they’ve been charming audiences with their exquisite harmonies, musicianship and emotion. We welcome them back to The Kate with great anticipation.” – THE KATE
Monday, August 30th – 8pm
Richie Havens
“Richie Havens is gifted with one of the most recognizable voices in popular music. His fiery, poignant, always soulful singing style has remained unique and ageless since he first emerged from the Greenwich Village folk scene in the early 1960s. It’s a voice that has inspired and electrified audiences from Woodstock in 1969, to the Clinton Presidential Inauguration in 1993 – coming full circle with the 30th Woodstock Anniversary celebration, “A Day in the Garden”, in 1999. As Billboard Magazine said, ‘This acoustic soul giant truly seems to be getting more inspiring and graceful with age.’ Come see for yourself at The Kate.”
